Organizing Scarves Vertically

3/1/2023

Have you tried storing your scarves vertically?  The idea is to fold and 'file' them vertically so that you can see them all at a glance.

It can make it easier to get dressed if you can easily see which ones match your outfit.  It also helps prevent 'losing' scarves that get buried in a pile or under others on a hanger.  It's easy to take one out and put one away.  If all of that sounds great to you, then this might be the way you consider organizing your own scarves!

Of course, one important part of organizing is to know yourself - what you are likely to do and not do.  The potential downside with this method is if you know you won't fold them and put them back.  In that case, this is the wrong method for you!

There are various ways you might store the scarves when folded in this manner.  A drawer works nicely, as does a plastic bin.  The key is to fold fold them in a way that they fit in the 'container' and that they hold each other up.  You might add dividers to help them stay upright.

Organizing Pregnancy and Maternity Clothes

10/14/2022

Pregnancy and postpartum are times of so much joy and expectation!  While this is a wonderful time, it can also be filled with lots of change, many decisions to make, and plenty of extra tasks.  The last thing you want to do is open your closet in the morning and be disappointed that you don't fit into your clothes and stressed because you don't know what to wear.   Let me share the journey of one new mom that I worked with as an example.

The client was a new mom who was frustrated with getting dressed each day.  Her closet was overflowing, yet she couldn't fit into most of the clothes.  Not only was it difficult to locate something that fit, but it was also taking an emotional toll knowing that the clothes didn't fit.  She ended up wearing the same few items over and over as they came out of the wash.

It has finally gotten colder here in Houston, and it feels like fall!  Or winter!  The city goes a little crazy when it gets cold… we sometimes forget how to drive… or how to leave the house… ;)

Do be aware that Texas can be 80 degrees one day and 40 the next.  It’s a gamble every day to know what to wear!  But I think that just makes life a bit more interesting.

Feel great in your fall sweaters!

10/30/2018

Fall is upon us, and with it comes cozy fall sweaters!

You may also be thinking about fall cleaning and getting your home ready for the holidays...  Feeling overwhelmed?  You are not alone.

Getting physically organized helps with our mental well-being.  Spending some time organizing can decrease your stress and overwhelm this season.  However, the act of organizing can be very overwhelming, too.  So where to start?  And how to proceed?  Marie Kondo is a Japanese organizer who created The KonMari Method™ in her book "The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up."  She recommends that you always begin with your clothes.

Why not start with one small category - your fall sweaters.  You know you're excited to see these old friends!  ;)
