Some people mistakenly believe that Marie Kondo's method is about Minimalism... about living with only the bare essentials... about getting rid of as many items as possible. That's not the case! Her method is about living with things that bring you joy. Yes, you may get rid of many items initially if you were living with many items that did NOT bring you joy, but that's ok. Focus on what you are keeping. The KonMari Method™ is about deciding how you want to live. It's personal. It's an inner reflection and time of getting to know yourself. Your home can be filled with items or have only a few... it's up to you and what makes you happy.
Spring has arrived! ...and perhaps with it the desire to get your house in order. For me, I feel a pull to clean the windows as well as the baseboards in my house. It makes such a difference when I’m done! I love sparkly-clean windows!
If your cleaning supplies are tidy, it makes cleaning much easier and enjoyable! I have a set of cleaning cloths that I keep organized in a drawer. I fold them and store them vertically in a shoebox so that I can easily see them and grab what I need without disturbing the rest. Storing items vertically is a key element in the KonMari Method™. Because it brings me joy every time I open the drawer, I also put them in color order! This is obviously not necessary; do what works best for you! *Note: Flourish Organizing may receive commissions from some links. It has finally gotten colder here in Houston, and it feels like fall! Or winter! The city goes a little crazy when it gets cold… we sometimes forget how to drive… or how to leave the house… ;)
Do be aware that Texas can be 80 degrees one day and 40 the next. It’s a gamble every day to know what to wear! But I think that just makes life a bit more interesting. |
