Desk Ideas for Sitting on the Floor or Couch

If you are working from home or your child is distance learning, it is nice to have flexibility in your seating arrangements.  It's good to be able to get up and move to a different location or a different chair.  Children, especially, benefit from having the choice to sit on the floor or in a comfy chair.  If they are actively engaged in learning, then I would encourage you to let them choose where to sit!  Here are some desk ideas to get you started!

Floor Desks

This adjustable wooden desk can be used while sitting on the floor.  It allows adjustment to the angle so that you can add a device or book.  It also has a flat surface and a cute little drawer!
This desk can be used on a bed, couch or on the floor.  It includes a slot along the back for a book or iPad and for a  slot for a drink.

Desks for Bed or Couch

This adjustable laptop desk/tray can be used while on a bed or couch.  It has a laptop spot, it can be adjusted to multiple heights, and it comes on wheels.

This is a great idea for patients with arthritis or other chronic illness!

Kids' Supplies to go with a Floor Desk

Kids love to sit on the floors with bean bags or pillows.  When doing school work, make sure that they have access to their supplies!  They may still need their headphones, school books, pencils, etc.

A three-tiered rolling cart means that kids can take their school supplies with them... to a physical desk, to a space on the floor, or to the kitchen table.  This also makes it easy for them to clean up and put everything away at the end of the day!
Consider using cubbies, plastic drawers, or a small bookshelf, next to their "floor spot".
Check out this article by HDTV with photos of how to organize a supply cart for kids' school work at home.  They include spots for headphones, a lap desk, an iPad, and other school supplies.  (There are 5 pictures to click through.)
